STUTTGART, Germany (Apr. 11, 2011) François Bellon, head of the International Committee of the Red Cross Delegation to NATO, EU and the Kingdom of Belgium, addresses military and civilian officials from the U.S. European Command (EUCOM) during a scheduled visit to the command at the invitation of EUCOM's Interagency Partnering Directorate (J9). Bellon and Aleardo Ferretti, Senior Delegate to NATO and European Armed Forces, visited EUCOM in order to familiarize the command with ICRC's mission, capabilities and current priorities including Syria and Israel. Established in 1863, the ICRC is an independent and neutral organization based in Geneva whose goal is to provide humanitarian relief for people affected by conflict and armed violence, and also promote the laws that protect victims of war.
