Colorado Airmen, C-130s to participate in commemorative D-Day airdrop
Airmen and an Air Force Reserve Command C-130 Hercules from Colorado’s 302nd Airlift Wing left here today and will be one of three Air Force Reserve C-130 wings participating in events commemorating the 68th Anniversary of the D-Day invasion of France.

PETERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. – Airmen and an Air Force Reserve Command C-130 Hercules from Colorado’s 302nd Airlift Wing left here today and will be one of three Air Force Reserve C-130 wings participating in events commemorating the 68th Anniversary of the D-Day invasion of France.

The 302nd Airlift Wing along with the 440th Airlift Wing, Pope Field, N.C. and the 910th Airlift Wing, Youngstown Air Reserve Station, Ohio, will participate in several international ceremonies and events, including a D-Day personnel airdrop June 3 near Sainte Mere Eglise, France, commemorating the historic June 6, 1944 Normandy invasion.

"It is an honor to represent the United States Air Force Reserve in these historic events remembering the thousands of U.S. military members who gave their lives in the fight for freedom on D-Day," said Col. Jay Pittman, 302nd Airlift Wing commander. "This will be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for these Airmen as they work together with our NATO partners retracing the history of the Airmen who came before them."
