BODRUM, Turkey — USS Stout (DDG 55) arrived in Bodrum, Turkey, June 16.
Initial office calls were held by Stout's commanding officer and executive officer with local officials, including Bodrum's district governor, mayor and garrison commander. During the visit, the U.S. Navy guests had the unique opportunity to learn about the local Turkish culture and history, strengthening the enduring partnership between the two countries.
While Sailors enjoyed the local sights and learned about the town's extensive past, Stout returned the welcome by hosting tours for local dignitaries aboard the Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyer.
Stout's visit to Bodrum accommodated well-earned liberty for the ship's Sailors, in the midst of a six-month deployment to the U.S. Sixth Fleet-s area of responsibility.
