U.S. Embassy Donates $365,000 in Equipment to Kraljevo and Western Serbia
U.S. Ambassador Mary Warlick visited Kraljevo and officially presented the Serbian Red Cross with $365,000 in cold weather clothing and equipment for the citizens of Kraljevo and western Serbia.

On Thursday January 27, U.S. Ambassador Mary Warlick visited Kraljevo and officially presented the Serbian Red Cross with $365,000 in cold weather clothing and equipment for the citizens of Kraljevo and western Serbia.

The bulk of this assistance is non-food items, including cold weather clothing. These 20 tons of parkas, sleeping bags, cots, cold weather hats, and heaters will help people get through the winter. The donation is funded and organized by the U.S. Department of Defense in response to the November earthquake in Kraljevo and the recent flooding in western Serbia.

Ambassador Warlick announced this donation at the Kraljevo Town Hall. This assistance is the second U.S. Embassy donation to Kraljevo; two weeks ago the embassy announced the $30,000 in assistance in the form of 600 house repair kits for households that sustained damage in the recent Kraljevo earthquake. Each kit contains: four gallons of paint, painting tools, bags of plaster and glue, wall insulation and much more, including all the protective equipment needed.

Following official meetings with the local Red Cross and municipal officials in Kraljevo, the Ambassador also visited the Kraljevo High School of Economics and Trade and donated four computers and met with a family affected by the earthquake and delivered a house repair kit.
